The Semiconductor Undergraduate of the Year Award

Are you the Semiconductor Undergraduate of the Year?

The semiconductor industry powers everything; from smartphones and satellites to AI breakthroughs and the technology shaping tomorrow. Yet, it’s often seen as the tech behind the tech. At Arm, we want to change that. This award celebrates undergraduates who bring ideas to life. The curious minds who solve problems, code, and explore how technology really works. If that sounds like you, this is your chance to stand out.

Enter if you are:

  • A current undergraduate or postgraduate student at a University in the UK
  • In your first year of your studies (Or second if studying towards an MSc)
  • Willing to take part in a challenge demonstrating your abilities

PRIZES

What could you win?

The winner will receive a paid work experience opportunity with Arm in Summer 2026, plus get fast-tracked for one of our 2027 internships across our UK offices. Arm internships are consistently recognised globally, named one of the Top 100 internship programmes by Yello this year.

WHAT IT TAKES

What makes an award winner?

At Arm, we’re building the future of AI and we’re looking for undergraduates who share that ambition. The Semiconductor Undergraduate of the Year celebrates those who see beyond what’s possible today to create technology that changes tomorrow.

We power breakthroughs across computing, connectivity, and AI. To stand out, you’ll show how you turn ideas into impact through work you’ve done outside of university studies. Whether that’s hardware experiments, software development and maybe even work with Arm technology.

We’ll be looking for people who bring our 10x Mindsets to life, the mindsets that help us think bigger, move faster, and make a real difference. In your submission show us how you:

  • Collaborate without ego, connecting ideas across teams or different platforms to achieve more together
  • Challenge skilfully, sharing your viewpoint with respect and staying open to others’ perspectives
  • Focus on what matters, simplifying complex problems to make the biggest impact
  • Seek continuous improvement, experimenting, iterating, and striving for excellence
  • Take ownership, turning insights into action and seeing things through

You don’t need to know everything, just bring curiosity, courage, and a drive to keep learning. That’s what makes a future innovator at Arm.

FROM OUR PARTNER

Arm and the Semiconductor of the Year Award

Semiconductors are the invisible foundation of our digital world, enabling everything from smartphones and data centers to the breakthroughs shaping AI and autonomous systems.

At Arm, we’ve spent more than 35 years building the technology that makes this possible. From our beginnings in a converted barn in Cambridge to a global team of 10,000+ people across 16 countries, our mission is clear: to build the future of AI on Arm. Today, Arm technology reaches 100% of the world’s connected population. And as the world enters a new era of AI-driven innovation, we’re helping define what’s next: faster, smarter, and more energy-efficient computing at every scale. We know innovation doesn’t just come from technology, it comes from people.

Each year, our Emerging Talent programmes welcome over 125 graduates, 150 interns, and 20 apprentices across the UK. They’re the next generation of leaders, learning from experts, collaborating across disciplines, and making real impact from day one. That commitment to growth is why Arm was recognised by Yello as one of the Top 100 internship programmes. Our interns tell us the same story, 93% say their work gives them a genuine sense of accomplishment. Because here, learning means doing, and doing means shaping the future. Inclusion and diversity are also core to how we innovate.

We believe technology should reflect the people it serves, and our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) make that possible connecting communities across gender, culture, LGBTQ+, accessibility, and neurodiversity.

As demand for AI, edge computing, and energy-efficient performance accelerates, Arm’s role has never been more vital. Whether you’re writing code, designing chips, or exploring the frontiers of AI, at Arm you’ll help build a future that’s more intelligent, sustainable, and human. Find out more about Arm here.
